Sandwich Pattern Identification Information

Several companies have marketed glass patterns called Sandwich. Among them are Anchor Hocking, Indiana Glass, Duncan Miller, and Tiara Exclusives. Colorful Sandwich Glass by all makers can be displayed together, or the glass can be collected by specific color or manufacturer. This section includes basic information on Anchor Hocking, Indiana Glass, and Tiara Exclusives Sandwich Glass plus some miscellaneous notes. (Sandwich Glass items pictured in this section are not for sale.)

REPRODUCTIONS The cookie jars pictured to the left are brand new reproductions. They are not authentic Tiara or Anchor Hocking Sandwich glass. These are technically "fantasy items" as the pattern is copied from the original Sandwich patterns but the shape is new. We do not offer them for sale - this note is for information only.

Concord advertisement This pattern, often mistakenly called Sandwich Glass, is actually named Concord. It was made by Brockway Glass 1977-1978 in amber and clear. Concord is not a reproduction or fake; it is a nice lacy pattern made by a relatively unknown company. Concord makes a nice addition to Sandwich Glass collections. Duncan Sandwich Glass Duncan and Miller Sandwich was made during the Depression Era into the 1950s in various colors including crystal, green, amber, pink, ruby, and chartreuse. In 1955, U.S. Glass (also known as Tiffin) purchased many of the Duncan molds. Tiffin continued to produce "Duncan Sandwich" in clear, plum, milk glass, and a few other colors. A number of Duncan molds were eventually sold to Indiana Glass. Some of these Duncan molds were used to create Tiara Sandwich. Indiana Glass also used Duncan molds to produce a limited run of Sandwich Glass for Montgomery Ward in 1972. Duncan Sandwich Glass

Examples of Sandwich Glass By Indiana Glass and Tiara Exclusives
It can be difficult to distinguish between depression era Indiana glass and newer Tiara Exclusives glass made from the same molds. Because of that, all of the glass below is presumed to be collectible Tiara Exclusives glass circa 1970 to 1998 unless noted otherwise.
Sandwich Glass Clear Indiana Glass Center-Handled Serving Tray  This serving tray was made by Indiana Glass and is older than Tiara's Sandwich glass. (Tiara's center-handled tray has a more ornate handle.) The glass color is crystal clear with plenty of sparkle. The tray measures approximately 11-1/2" across and about 3-3/4" tall to the top of the handle.
Sandwich Glass Amber Wine Goblet (old style)  This amber wine goblet is either Indiana depression glass or pre-1974 Tiara glass. In 1974, the Tiara Sandwich wine goblet mold was changed to a slightly wider and shorter goblet. This wine goblet measures just under 4-1/4" tall and just under 2" across the top. It holds 3 ounces.
Sandwich Glass Amber Tiara 8-ounce Tumblers  Each tumbler measures about 4-3/8" tall and a little over 3" across the top. This size was made in Amber Sandwich 1979 - 1981.
Sandwich Glass Bicentennial Blue Tiara Party Server  This glass-handled serving tray is 12" across and is 5-1/2" tall to the top of the handle. Tiara's center-handled tray has a more ornate handle than the earlier version made by Indiana Glass.
Sandwich Glass Chantilly Green Tiara Water Goblets  Chantilly is a transparent pale green color that is similar to "Depression Glass Green" but a little softer in tone. Tiara's Chantilly Green glass does not fluoresce yellow-green under blacklight. Each goblet measures approximately 5-3/8" tall. Capacity is eight ounces.
Sandwich Glass Chantilly Green Tiara Coffee Cups  Each cup measures approximately 2-1/2" tall and about 3-1/2" across the top. (The coffee cup is larger than the punch/snack cup.) Capacity is nine ounces.
